6 Months with Ford

It feels so weird to say that. Part of me feels like he was just born, but I also feel like he’s been a part of my life forever. It’s weird how time flies when your family grows and how different everything is. I honestly struggle to remember what life was like without this sweet boy. I mean, I definitely miss the days of sleeping in, but overall can’t complain. He has changed my life for the better in so many ways. Here are a few updates on Ford.

My Breastfeeding Journey

The one thing I wanted going into my pregnancy was to be able to breastfeed. I guess I always pictured it being such a beautiful part of the mother and baby journey. And it really is! What I didn’t realize was that it would be SO hard.  I don’t think anything could have prepared  me for learning how to breastfeed until my baby was here. I thought breastfeeding come naturally - it seems like it would be instinctual, and while part of the process is, it really is something that you and you baby have to learn, together. Here is my story and what worked for me...

Favorite Toys & Activities (3-6 Months)

Once Ford started to become active, right around 3.5 months, I knew I couldn’t just let him bounce in his MamaRoo anymore. I wanted to engage him with fun toys and activities to boost his development. I also think it’s much more fun to have things to do when I am at home with him, so that neither of us gets bored. Here are a few ideas I compiled and tested with the help of my amazing community!

Transitioning to the Crib

I’ve talked to so many mamas about this and thought I would share my own experience in hopes of helping you (if you are struggling with sleep.) I want to preface that YOU are the mom and YOU have to do what is best for you and your little one. It’s so important to use your gut instinct to decide when it’s best to make the transition to the crib.

Holiday Gift Guide: Ford's List

Even though Ford won’t technically remember this Christmas, it’s still his “first Christmas.” We are doing a few gifts for him - nothing over the top, but also had to give ideas to family members. Creating a Bedtime Routine

You guys. If I am being honest, sleep has been the biggest struggle as a new mom. You never truly realize how wonderful a full night of uninterrupted sleep is until you have a baby. Am I right?

I just don’t think there is anything that can prepare you for the feeling of sleep deprivation. But I do think it’s possible to teach your baby to learn to sleep on their own and to love sleep. This has been one of my biggest goals with Ford and I am finally ready to share what has worked for us, so far!

My Diaper Bag Essentials

Learning how to pack a diaper bag is a right of passage as a new mom. Before the baby was here, I carefully curated our diaper bag with neatly folded onesies, perfect stacks of diapers and cute toys that were more Instagram-worthy than baby-friendly. Now, I know that a diaper bag is more than that. It’s an arsenal of essentials to get you through any situation that you may encounter outside of the home with a baby.
