Gifts to Give a New Mama

Now that I am almost 1-year into my motherhood journey, I have such a different perspective on what I would give to a new mama. When I was prepping for Ford to arrive, I was focused on folding his cute baby onesies and curating the perfect nursery. I tried my best to research baby items we would need and actually use, but it’s really hard to know…until you know.

Why I Stopped Breastfeeding

I am so thankful that I was able to have this experience of breastfeeding Ford. I am so thankful that I was able to nourish him and help him grow to be strong and healthy. But I am also thankful for choices. Choices to offer formula or to allow other people to care for my son. People that will shape him and mold him. I know that while this experience can be hard for some, that it’s not the only way and that either way you feed your baby is best. Sharing why I stopped breastfeeding…

Taking Care of Yourself Postpartum

So, I thought I would share a few things that I think could be helpful if you are a new mom or preparing to embark on the motherhood journey.

Things I am saying 'no' to this year

One lesson that motherhood has taught me is that I simply cannot do it all myself. We’ve all heard the phrase ‘it takes a village' but I never truly understood that until I became a mom. My Postpartum Struggles

I really went back and forth on whether or not I should write this post. On one hand, I’m all about being transparent in sharing my story, but sometimes I feel like my struggles can be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. And they totally are! I have a healthy baby and I am doing okay most of the time. But I want to share this experience because I think it’s an important reminder to any new moms to slow down, give yourself grace and enjoy the journey. There’s not enough conversation happening around this, I believe. So, here we go.

What I Wish I Had Known Before Baby

I didn’t know a lot of the insider mom secrets. You know... the things that happen to you when you have a baby but know one really wants to talk about. I spent a LOT of time researching and reading about childbirth and the fourth trimester. Things I didn’t know existed until I got caught spending too much time on Pinterest or reading childbirth blogs. But I’m glad I read it all - the good, bad & ugly. I thought it would be interesting to some mamas-to-be to share some of my own experiences.
